About Pharmacy

The branch of health care science deals with the preparation, preservation, dispensing and proper utilization of medical drugs. This is a branch of healthcare science which connects health science to chemical science for the proper utilization, safe and effective use of pharmaceutical or medical drugs.

Pharma is derived from the Greek word pharmacies which mean poison.The word pharmacies are itself derived from pharmacon that means”drug”, “medicine” or “poison”.

Course Description:

Bachelor of Pharmacy is an undergraduate course of 4 years divided into eight semesters. At the end of each semester, an individual has to qualify written and practical examinations to get promotion in next session. Although it is a full-time four-year course, but few of the Universities also provides a distance learning program at this level.

What is Bachelor of Pharmacy(B.Pharma)?

Pharmacy Council of India is a legal body regulates the pharmacy course up to graduate level in India. In the course, duration student gets knowledge about drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering and Medicinal Chemistry.

The curriculum includes Laboratory teaching, group discussions, case studies, hands-on training and conferences which are necessary to develop analytical and industrial skills in an individual. Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Maths and Biostatistics, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology are some of the major subjects an individual learn throughout the course duration.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • One should be passed 10+2 with physics, chemistry, biology or maths or both as mandatory subjects.
  • Minimum 50 5 aggregate is needed at 10+2 level to get enrollment for B.Pharma.
  • For Lateral entry in the second year of B.Pharma, one has secured minimum 55% in D.pharma.
